To Standardize the project-follow-up process for plastic injection mold to make sure continuous good quality

Building company interior standard is one of the way to avoid mistakes and flaws during manufacturing process 

There are some Mandatory checkpoints are rather important during the project process

Step 1 — Project Kickoff (reviewing meeting  review every technical documents from customers  with designer ,project manager,tooling assembly managers and quality control , purchasing dept as well  )

• Customer drawings received
• 2D/3D files checked
• Material confirmed
• Part requirements reviewed
• Critical dimensions identified
• Appearance requirements identified
• Mold specification confirmed

Step 2 — DFM Approval (project manager has to be part of the project at the very beginning ) 

• Parting line checked
• Draft angle checked
• Wall thickness checked
• Shrinkage confirmed
• Gate location confirmed
• Ejection system checked
• Slider/lifter requirements checked
• Cooling concept checked
• Steel/material confirmed

Step 3 — Mold Design (there are a design checkpoints list to reivew everything by designers themselves before manufacturing process meeting ) 

• Mold structure reviewed
• Cooling system reviewed
• Ejection system reviewed
• Slider/lifter reviewed
• Standard components checked
• Mold strength checked
• Mold opening/closing checked
• Interference check completed

Gate 4 — Manufacturing (the manufacturing progress report is ncessary during the manufacturing process ,to understand the whole process ,and where is left behind ,where it goes further ） 

• Steel ordered
• Material certificate checked
• CNC machining completed
• EDM completed
• Wire cutting completed
• Critical dimensions inspected
• Surface treatment completed if required
• Mold assembly completed

Step 5 — Mold Trial（ A complete mold trial report including all neccessary points to make sure all flaws points are found during the mold trial so the tool maker could improve the mold correctly before T2 ) 

• Machine parameters prepared
• Resin confirmed
• Trial conditions recorded
• Short shot test completed if required
• First-shot samples inspected
• Dimensions checked
• Appearance checked
• Flash/short shot/weld line/sink mark checked

Step 6 — Modification / Final Approval ( Trial problems Menu to sort out all the trial problems ,and forward all issues to tool makers ,they could also check every points accordingly by each points to avoid to miss something important ) 

• Trial problems documented
• Modification responsibility assigned
• Modification completed
• Re-trial completed
• Final dimensions approved
• Customer approval received
• Final mold inspection completed
• Shipment checklist completed
